Abstract
It is with great pleasure and deep gratitude that I dedicate to the Holy Father John Paul II this volume of the proceedings of the "Fourth International Congress for the Family of Africa and Europe", promoted by the Centre for Study and Research on Natural Fertility Regulation of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, on the Twentieth Anniversary of the Encyclical "Humanae Vitae".
The celebration of this inspired Encyclical, whose prophetic values have been proving more and more interesting over the last years, is a good opportunity to express our very special thanks to the Holy Father John Paul II for wisely and incisively leading us within the guidelines of his Predecessor's teaching. His response to the "signs of the times" has been strong and efficient, his guidance enlightens the way to all who are engaged in keeping and promoting the teachings of the Church on marriage and procreation. Since the very beginning of his pontificate he has been a great support to all of us and has encouraged us in our engagement for the promotion of the family.
I also heartily thank all the speakers whose qualified and very valuable contributions gave worth and interest to the Congress.
